Apple iOS 12: what’s new?
After a test period of about three months, which saw the release of no less than 12 beta versions, Apple has publicly released iOS 12, the new “major release” of the operating system for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch.
iOS 12 is available for all devices that currently support iOS 11: iPhone 5s up, iPad mini 2, 3 and 4, iPad Air first and second generation, iPad fifth and sixth generation and all iPad Pro. iOS 12 it is also available for the sixth generation iPod Touch.
New features
iOS 12 doesn’t introduce many new features but is an update focused more on security and performance that will improve in a clear way even on older iPhones by offering greater system speed and open applications.
Among the main news of iOS 12 there are “Usage Time”, a function that allows you to monitor the time we spend with our devices to help us manage it better, the new Memoji that add more personality and expression to the messages, the new applications for Siri Bag and Memo and Commands of Siri that will be able to suggest a “shortcut” at the right time, but not only that.
New IPhone XS, XS Max and XR – the normal, the big and the cheap
Apple presented a few hours ago the new range of iPhone 2018, consisting from the iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max and iPhone XR.
XS Series
The XS series represents an important evolutionary step for the iPhone X, with the new 6.5″ display that will make happy those who prefer bigger phones. It improves the OLED, now HDR10 and Dolby Vision certified with water and dust proof resistance IP68.
iPhone XS and XS Max come with an Apple A12 Bionic processor, able to guarantee more performance and a reduced consumption of 40 percent. With the Neural Engine up to 5000 billion operations per second are completed: this is an important “upgrade”, considering that the old A11 Bionic stopped at 600 billion.
The double 12+12 MP cam with OIS and the wide-angle sensor f/1.8 and the telephoto f/2.4 lens also evolves. The range of iPhone XS smartphones is dual SIM, this is new for Apple, with space for a physical SIM and an eSIM.
XR
iPhone XR is the third novelty presented by Apple in the evening: heir to iPhone 5C, the smartphone is a full screen (with notch) that will be sold in the colors white, black, blue, coral, yellow and red ProductRED. Do not miss Face ID, 12MP rear camera with aperture f/1.8, IP67 certification and A12 Bionic chip. In practice the 3D Touch and the second rear camera are missing, but after all the technical specifications recall those seen on the XS series.
